Check Out The Urban Beach Scene At Pajucara
Pajucara is one of Maceio's most famous beaches. Located close to the city center, it is one of the urban beaches that visitors and local families flock to on the weekends. Located between the other popular urban beaches of Avenida and Ponta Verde, Pajucara is a great place to spend the day.
This beach is known for its clear blue water, white sand banks and palm trees. Pajucara is a great family beach because of the water. This is the only urban beach where swimming is allowed. Ponta Verde and the other urban beaches don't allow swimming because of pollution and algae buildup, but here you can hit the waves. And it's gentle waters make it a good, safe beach for kids.
The Pajucara boardwalk is one of Maceio's biggest sightseeing spots. Lots of people just walk up and down the boardwalk, checking out the scene and grabbing a bite to eat at the many food vendor stands. The Pajucara boardwalk is also where you will find lots of information about other Maceio sightseeing places. It's a good one-stop for all your Maceio sightseeing plans.
More than any other beach, Pajucara has lots of places for you to sit and hang out. There are restaurants and food stands serving shrimp, lobster and a local dish called moqueca, a kind of fish stew. You can grab a bite to eat and sit in the shade of the palm trees until you're ready to move on.
Pajucara is also one of the beaches where you can take a boat (called "jaganda") out to see the natural pools. These pools are created at low tide when the water exposes natural reef rock formations. The bottoms of these pools are soft, pink sand, and they are full of tropical fish and unusual plants. These pools are great for snorkeling and diving. There are stands where you can rent snorkeling gear, and the boats will take you out for a small fee.
It may not be as crowded as Ponta Verde, but the weekends can be pretty hectic at Pajucara. The best time to go is during the weekdays. On a Sunday, you won't be able to find any place to sit at any of the restaurants, and the beach will be covered with blankets and tents. If you're looking for a nice, quiet beach, Pajucara on a weekend is not the place.
Still, Sundays can be fun at Pajucara. They block off the streets to motor traffic, and it turns into a street festival with food, drinks, music and dancing.
