Spend A Day In Paradise At The Marape Dunes

On the southern coast of Maceio, you'll find the Marape Dunes. These unique and beautiful dunes are one of the most famous sightseeing attractions in the entire state of Alagoas, and they are close and convenient. Like many of the area's spectacular sights, the Marape Dunes have been preserved in their wild, natural state.

The best way to get to the Marape Dunes is by boat. Once you get to the dunes, you'll find white sand, lush tropical vegetation, and views of the deep green ocean. This is where the area's rivers meet the ocean, and you can also see the wonderful natural coral reef that makes this area so distinct.

You can stroll along the dunes and take in the scenery, or you can swim in the clear, green waters of the River Jequira. This is one of the best swimming locations in all of Maceio. Because of the reef, which acts as a breaker, the waters of the Marape Dunes are calm and quiet. This makes it a great place to just soak in the sun and laze about in the water.

In your walks around the area, you can see the giant dunes and cliffs that tower above the beach. These are all natural, formed by the erosion of water and wind. Hiking the dunes is a rigorous adventure that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. Aside from the vegetation around the dunes, which includes coconut trees, manglars and other exotic plants, you'll find wildlife. The trees are full of monkeys, exotic birds and other tropical animals.

The Marape Dunes are full of wonderful and unique photographic opportunities. Come to the dunes at sunset and get a picture of the sun casting shadows on the white sand. The cliffs around the dunes are picturesque at any time of day. The green ocean, coconut trees and white sands offer many great photographic opportunities that you won't find elsewhere.

There are also a few vendors selling tropical cocktails and Brazilian food for those who are hungry. Near the dunes is the Marape Dunes Complex, a small area with restaurants, bars and a few shops.

The Marape Dunes are one of the many sights around Maceio that make you think you've found paradise, and unlike some of the more urban beaches, it is rarely crowded. Walk the dunes, take in the sights, get in a little swimming, and enjoy the Marape Dunes at your leisure.
